"When I'm in a blue mood I head for the kitchen. I turn the pages of my favorite cookbooks, summoning the prospective joyful noise of a shared meal. I stand over a bubbling soup, close my eyes, and inhale. From the ground up, everything about nourishment steadies my soul." Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Great job on the cake, it looks beautiful. I remember when we were testing this cake here at Fine Cooking. I think it went through about 3 rounds of testing. I can't remember if it was to make sure we had the recipe just right or if it was an excuse to get to eat another piece of this amazing cake. Thanks so much for writing about it on your blog!

Can I make it a rule that you not post pictures of things that look sooooooo good while I'm pregnant? It just doesn't seem fair. Oh and that glass of wine to the side of it made my mouth water too. Yummmmmm..... xoxo

Fantastic job..your cannoli look amazing! All hail Dad for coming through, and as for the blisters, it's so hit or miss. It took me two weeks of frying various shell recipes to finally hit the perfect thinness of dough and oil temp for blisters. Some get lucky on the first try..some have to keep trying..like me!

Thanks so much for taking part in my challenge this month!

They're cute! I definitely think that letting them sit out is key, which is one reason I didn't really trust this recipe - generally you want a skin to develop on the piped batter, resulting in feet when they are baked - the batter inside has nowhere to go but out the bottom!
